Abigail Castillo, an admissions counselor at Washington State University says that eliminating standardized testing requirements gives admissions counselors a harder job selecting students, but it does open more doors for students to apply to different schools. Schools across the nation have paused or eliminated standardized exam requirements in response to the pandemic. The most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education shows that nearly 1,200 colleges that received at least             1,000 applications in 2020 reported an average acceptance rate of 70 percent. The Associated Press reported that a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by hundreds of Hanford and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory workers. Hanford nuclear reservation and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) workers in Richland, Washington issued a lawsuit over COVID-19 vaccine requirements. The lawsuit was filed in November of 2021 in response of President Joe Biden’s executive orders requiring COVID-19 vaccination for Department of Energy employees and employees of contractors and subcontractors on federal projects, The Tri-City Herald reported.   Benton City Community Yard Sale Is Back The Benton City community wide yard sale is returning this June. There will be dozens of sales all over the greater Benton City area for the City’s 17 th annual community wide yard sale. The event is set for Saturday June 11 from 8 A.M. to 3 P.M. Sales will be set up in the park as well as at participants homes. “In the years past, the park has filled up. Due to COVID last year we only had maps for the homes, and that was a huge turnout,” Suzan Benningfield, a Benton City Chamber employee said. “This year we will be having it in the park which I’m already anticipating we will have a much larger turnout. Because, like I said, last year was when I joined the chamber, and it was only at the homes,” Benningfield said. This event is open to all Benton City addresses only.
